Each tie is individually hand painted in our studio in Manchester.
No stencils or templates are used and each brushstroke is freehand using nothing but the artist’s eye to guide it. The dyes glide onto the silk in an organic way, depth and spread of colour being governed by a host of factors such as: weave of silk, temperature, dilution, chemical composition, other dyes already on the piece, etc. Sometimes the dyes from the design bleed through to the back, sometimes colours merge and sometimes they don’t.
This is no ‘mass process’ or ‘sweat shop’ production line, where every piece is the same!
This means that although a design is being worked to, each tie will be unique. If your individually painted tie varies from the web image by more than you would like, don’t worry!

Just return your tie unworn, with the packaging, saying how you would like the tie to look and we will endeavour to create this for you.
If you have been given your tie as a present and it isn’t really your style, return it intact giving an indication of a design more to your taste and we will strive to create this for you.

Some ties have gold/silver/copper gutta as an integral part of the design. This is fixed by steaming along with the dyes and is generally a stable and enduring aspect of the design. However, occasionally this can show signs of wear. If this happens, return the tie at any point in the future and we will reapply the gutta at no
additional cost.
